Remedial Massage provides a healing treatment that is adjusted around a person’s needs for that treatment, it can be gentle or strong, deep or shallow. It is used when muscles and tendons become damaged or impaired, knotted and tense or immobile.
Remedial Massage treats the whole body. It uses specialised techniques to locate and repair damage and to support and speed up the body’s own repair mechanisms.
The benefits of Remedial Massage include: the stimulation to the blood supply allowing toxins in the muscles to be removed; the calming of the peripheral nervous system to ease pain and discomfort; and the toning and relaxing of muscles to improve joint mobility. An improvement to the health of the cells, the repairing of tissues and the easing of stiffness and tension can also be experienced through therapeutic relaxation.
There are many muscular and skeletal dysfunctions to which Remedial Massage can be beneficial:
- low back pain
- neck pain
- muscular cramps
- repetitive strain injury
- shin splints
Just to name a few.
It can also be used to treat general muscle soreness from over exertion.
Generally, Remedial Massage does not set out to relax the patient; the intention is more to fix a mechanical problem. This does not mean that there is no relaxation achieved in each treatment. Remember, each treatment is designed for the person. Benefits can include all-round health improvement such as better sleep, increase in vitality and performance levels, as well as increased mobility.
